During his visit to the United States, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko met with United States Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm to discuss the strengthening of Ukraine’s energy system and protection against Russian attacks.
The Ukrainian Energy Ministry announced the meeting on their Facebook page, highlighting the importance of American assistance in enhancing energy resilience and expanding power capacities in Ukraine.
Galushchenko raised concerns about Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, emphasizing the need for more air defense systems to protect energy facilities. He also discussed Ukraine’s requirements for gas turbines and gas piston plants to increase on-site generation capacities.
The conversation delved into cooperation in nuclear energy, focusing on nuclear safety and the development of energy facilities in Ukraine. Special attention was given to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, currently under Russian occupation.
The meeting also touched upon the procurement of distributed generation equipment through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, showcasing ongoing collaboration between Ukraine and its international partners in the energy sector.
