Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is ready to collaborate with Indonesia in sending peacekeeping forces to Gaza if authorized by the UN. Anwar discussed this with Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto, addressing the humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s actions in Gaza, where thousands of Palestinians have been killed.
During their conversation, Anwar praised Prabowo for his efforts in promoting global peace and regional collaboration. He also expressed interest in expanding cooperation to include ASEAN countries in international peacekeeping missions.
Anwar also extended his well wishes to Prabowo for his recent surgery and prayed for his quick recovery. Last month, the Indonesian defense forces commander mentioned that Jakarta is prepared to deploy a peacekeeping brigade of 1,212 personnel to Gaza if authorized by the UN.
It is heartening to see leaders like Anwar and Prabowo discussing important global issues and working towards peace and cooperation in the region. Let us hope their efforts lead to positive outcomes for the people of Gaza.
