Lagos Oba Warns Police Against Involvement in Land Issues

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwanu Akiolu, has cautioned Policemen against interfering in land ownership disputes, stating that it undermines their effectiveness on duty. During a visit by AIG. Romokere Ibani, Akiolu emphasized that it is not the role of the police to decide land ownership. He plans to write to the IGP with recommendations to address this issue.

Akiolu, a retired AIG, stressed the importance of ethics and education for police officers to be efficient. He also urged Nigerians to obey the law to avoid conflicts with law enforcement. Akiolu advocated for a review of tax collection and contract processes to reduce corruption.

Despite challenges, Akiolu is optimistic about Nigeria’s future under President Bola Tinubu. AIG. Ibani assured improved security in Lagos. He called on residents to cooperate for a peaceful environment. The partnership between the police and citizens is crucial for maintaining law and order.

Overall, Akiolu’s message emphasizes the importance of professionalism, ethics, education, and cooperation in ensuring effective law enforcement and governance.
