Ekiti Governor: Fulfilling Basic Obligations Not an Achievement
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, recently stated that merely paying salaries, pensions, and gratuity is not a noteworthy achievement for a governor. During the swearing-in ceremony of three new Permanent Secretaries, the governor emphasized that his role extends beyond these basic duties to include providing security and improving the overall quality of life for citizens.
Addressing the newly appointed officials, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of their role as managers of human and material resources. He urged them to align with the government’s policies and give their full commitment to achieving shared prosperity.
Oyebanji challenged the Permanent Secretaries to embrace transparency, probity, and innovation in their roles. He highlighted the need for teamwork, responsibility, and inspiring leadership in fostering a conducive work environment for progress.
The new Permanent Secretaries, represented by Mr. Michael Boluade, expressed gratitude for their appointments and pledged to contribute to the state’s development. They commended the governor for his merit-based approach to appointments.
While paying obligations is essential, Governor Oyebanji’s stance reflects a higher expectation of governance and leadership beyond the routine tasks.
