More than 1.3 million people in Bangladesh villages have been affected by floods caused by heavy rains in the country’s northeast, according to a government official. Sylhet divisional commissioner Abu Ahmed Siddique reported that homes, roads, and villages have been inundated by floodwaters.
Rising water levels in the Brahmaputra, Dharla, and Dudhkumar rivers have led to flooding in various parts of northeastern Bangladesh. Meteorologists have predicted that the heavy rains will persist over the next 24 hours, prompting authorities to organize humanitarian aid for the affected population.
Efforts are underway to evacuate residents from flooded areas to temporary tent camps to ensure their safety. The situation remains critical as the region grapples with the aftermath of the devastating floods.
