Last month, Lucy Letby went on trial for a second time on one count of attempted murder of a baby girl, known as Child K. The prosecution alleged that Letby interfered with the baby’s breathing tube on multiple occasions, leading to her death.
In her defense, Letby denied harming any baby placed in her care, claiming she had no recollection of the events in question. Despite her denial, she was found guilty of killing seven babies and attempting to murder six others by injecting them with insulin or air.
The case shook Britain and prompted an inquiry into why concerns about Letby’s behavior were not addressed by hospital authorities. Police are also investigating whether there are more victims at hospitals where Letby previously worked.
While some believe Letby is a victim of injustice, the Court of Appeal upheld her conviction in May. The community remains divided over the case, with many questioning the evidence against her.
