The recent visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Tajikistan has been marked by a renewed commitment to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance trade ties between the two countries. During his two-day visit, PM Shehbaz emphasized the need to expand trade to reflect the strong bond between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
Several memorandums of understanding were signed during the visit, especially focusing on strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation in various sectors like agriculture, education, health, and investment promotion. The prime minister also highlighted the importance of the rail-road connectivity project to facilitate the transportation of goods between the two countries.
Additionally, PM Shehbaz discussed the China, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan trade corridor project and expressed confidence in the completion of the Casa-1000 project next year. He also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism collectively with Tajikistan.
The prime minister condemned the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Indian-occupied Kashmir, advocating for peaceful resolutions in line with the aspirations of the affected populations. He thanked the Tajik president for the warm welcome and extended an invitation for him to visit Pakistan.
