Israel’s Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, is actively seeking international support to challenge arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Katz reached out to 25 global counterparts, urging them to follow Britain’s lead in submitting legal opinions to the ICC in The Hague to dismiss the Chief Prosecutor’s request.

In response to allegations of “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” in the Gaza Strip, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan requested the arrest warrants in May. Following Britain’s request for a hearing on the ICC’s jurisdiction over Israeli citizens, the court accepted and called for legal opinions by July 12.

To address the impending deadline, Israel has formed a specialized team within the foreign ministry to coordinate global legal support efforts. The team’s primary focus is mobilizing support from various countries to challenge the arrest warrant crisis and prepare for the upcoming deadline on July 12.

Make sure to stay updated on this developing international legal challenge as Israel rallies support to defend its leaders in the face of ICC scrutiny.
