Israel is gearing up to implement a groundbreaking model for postwar governance in Gaza by creating Hamas-free “humanitarian enclaves” in the strip’s northern neighborhoods. The innovative pilot scheme is set to kick off in areas like Atatra, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia, where the Israeli military will oversee aid distribution and gradually transfer civilian governance to local Palestinians.
The proposed plan involves creating secure “bubbles” that would expand southward to replace Hamas rule in Gaza. This three-tier strategy, devised by the Israeli security establishment and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, also includes international and Arab coalition involvement to provide diplomatic and financial support for postwar Gaza.
However, there are doubts about the feasibility of this plan, with concerns raised about potential resistance from Hamas. Despite this, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his advisors are pushing for Arab states to play a crucial role in the postwar reconstruction efforts, contingent on progress towards a Palestinian state.
While some view the initiative as a fantasy, others hope that the humanitarian bubbles could pave the way for a more stable future in Gaza.\
