Hezbollah Stresses Ceasefire in Lebanon Depends on Gaza War
Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem reaffirmed the group’s commitment to halting retaliatory strikes against Israel once the conflict in Gaza concludes. In a meeting with German intelligence officials, Qassem emphasized the interconnectedness of the situations in Gaza and Lebanon, insisting that any ceasefire in southern Lebanon is conditional on peace in Gaza.
While tensions rise between Hezbollah and Israel, recent discussions have focused on preventing a full-scale war and ending Hezbollah’s support for Palestinians in Gaza. Despite German efforts to mediate and prevent escalation, Hezbollah remains steadfast in their defense against potential conflict.
As global powers urge de-escalation in the region, the situation remains fragile. German Foreign Minister Baerbock warns of the potential for a devastating war between Israel and Hezbollah, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire in Gaza to quell tensions. Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, also warns of the group’s readiness to defend against any threats, including those from countries supporting Israel.
