Amid escalating tensions, Palestinians in Khan Younis have been fleeing the area following warnings from the IDF to evacuate for safety. Citizens, many with only the clothes on their backs, moved westward to the humanitarian zone in al-Mawasi. Some walked, while others used vehicles and donkeys to carry their belongings.
One evacuee, Zineb Abu-Jazar, expressed the urgency of the situation, stating, “We received a notification on our mobile phone to evacuate. Look at these children, how they walk. We couldn’t find a car to take us.”
The IDF’s warning came after Islamic Jihad launched a rare rocket attack on Israeli border communities. While no casualties were reported, tensions remain high. Speculation looms about the IDF’s intentions to re-enter Khan Younis, with recent airstrikes targeting rocket launch sites.
