ANC and DA unable to reach deal in Gauteng

In a dramatic turn of events, talks between the DA and the ANC in Gauteng for a government of provincial unity have failed. The DA is expected to make an official announcement following a meeting with the ANC on Tuesday.

The DA sent an advisory to the media titled ‘no deal in Gauteng’ after the two parties could not come to an agreement over a power-sharing deal. This impasse arose after ANC Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi postponed the announcement of his executive due to disagreements with the DA.

Despite Lesufi’s willingness to appoint the DA to three posts in his executive, the DA rejected the offer, claiming they deserved more. The ANC is reportedly exploring other options, including discussions with the MK Party, which has shown support for the ANC in the past.

The situation escalated when the DA instructed its provincial leaders to boycott the announcement of Lesufi’s executive, just an hour before the scheduled time. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
