Political Leaders Show Admiration for Armed Forces on UK Armed Forces Day
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer, along with other party leaders, expressed admiration for UK Armed Forces on Armed Forces Day. Sunak pledged to increase defense spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2030.
Sunak commended the servicemen and women for their selfless sacrifices and dedication. He highlighted the importance of supporting those who defend the country and making the UK the best place for veterans. Labor and the Liberal Democrats also promised to allocate 2.5% of GDP to defense.
Starmer interacted with Gurkha veterans in Aldershot, while Ed Davey called for fair treatment for serving personnel and veterans. Although there was no national event for Armed Forces Day, celebrations across the UK honored veterans, service families, and current military members.
