Turkish forces successfully neutralized two PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Iraq as part of their ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region. The Turkish National Defense Ministry reported that the operation took place in the Operation Claw-Lock region, emphasizing the commitment of the Turkish Armed Forces to eliminate terrorism at its root.
The term “neutralize” used by Turkish authorities indicates that the terrorists were either killed, captured, or surrendered during the operation. The PKK, a designated terrorist organization responsible for numerous casualties over the years, has found a base in northern Iraq to plan attacks on Turkey.
The YPG, the Syrian offshoot of the PKK, operates in a similar manner, posing a threat to regional stability. In response, Turkey launched Operation Claw-Lock in 2022 to target PKK hideouts in key regions of northern Iraq.
