Tokyo Governor Race: Koike Ahead By Slim Margin

Tokyo Gov Yuriko Koike is leading the polls by a small margin in the upcoming Tokyo gubernatorial election on July 7, according to a recent Kyodo News survey. The 71-year-old incumbent, seeking her third term, is backed by the ruling bloc and is closely followed by key challenger Renho, a former lawmaker supported by the main opposition. Other candidates like Shinji Ishimaru and Toshio Tamogami have also seen varying levels of support.

With over 10% of voters still undecided, the election is shaping up to be a close race. The ruling bloc supports Koike, while the opposition parties are backing Renho. Support from various political parties seems to be split between the candidates based on the survey results.

Top policy priorities for voters in Tokyo include medical care, the economy, employment, and education. The outcome of this election could have significant implications for the future of the capital city.

As the campaign heats up, both candidates are working hard to win over undecided voters and secure their place as the next governor of Tokyo.
