Setback for Former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as High Court Dismisses Petition
In a blow to former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Telangana High Court has dismissed his writ petition challenging the constitution of a Commission of Inquiry to investigate alleged irregularities in the power sector during the previous government’s rule. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Anil Kumar Jukanti, rejected Rao’s plea.
Rao, popularly known as KCR, had contested the Government Order forming the Commission of Inquiry to examine decisions related to power procurement and plant construction. He also objected to the appointment of Justice (retd) L Narasimha Reddy as the commission’s head and criticized the summon issued to him for producing evidence.
In a detailed letter to Justice Reddy, Rao defended his administration’s efforts to stabilize the power sector and accused the current government of using the inquiry for political gain. He called for Justice Reddy to step down from his role.
This development marks a significant legal battle in Telangana’s political landscape, with implications for both past and present administrations.
