South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has unveiled his new cabinet, which includes opposition politicians in key ministerial posts. Despite this inclusivity, he has retained Enoch Godongwana as finance minister, indicating a continuation of his economic policies.

The announcement of the cabinet comes after negotiations following the African National Congress’s loss of its parliamentary majority in the May 29 elections. To form a government of national unity, the ANC invited various parties to join forces. Ramaphosa’s reappointment as president was secured with the agreement of other parties to accept ministerial positions.

The new administration faces challenges such as addressing state inefficiency, power shortages, and logistical hurdles that have hindered economic growth and investment. The high level of unemployment in the country adds to the urgency of implementing effective policies and reforms.
