The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has warned that the National Security Minister and the government have ignored the need for additional detainee space to accommodate the influx of new Palestinian detainees amid the ongoing conflict. The agency expressed its opposition to releasing detainees due to existing Israeli law but stated that the lack of space left them with no choice.

Slowing Arrests

The Shin Bet also highlighted that the pace of new arrests has slowed down as a result of the shortage of space to house more detainees. In compliance with the law, the agency has been releasing dangerous detainees based on their level of threat, prioritizing those with ties to terror.

Moreover, the Shin Bet revealed that individuals like Shifa Hospital Director Muhammad Abu Salmiya, considered dangerous but less so than combat fighters, have been included in recent releases to prioritize the detention of more dangerous individuals.
