Russia Vows to Destroy Weapons Sent to Ukraine Amid US Plan
Russia has pledged to destroy weapons being sent to Ukraine, including Patriot air defense systems rumored to be transferred from Israel to Ukraine. Russian UN representative, Vassily Nebenzia, warned countries against providing arms to Ukraine, stating that any weapons sent will be destroyed. This statement was made during a news conference after Russia assumed the presidency of the Security Council for one month.
Nebenzia also dismissed former US President Donald Trump’s claims of resolving the Ukraine crisis in a day, emphasizing that the conflict cannot be resolved quickly. He mentioned Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposed solution, which includes Ukraine withdrawing troops and acknowledging Russia’s territorial gains.
Addressing the divide between Russia, China, North Korea, and European countries with the West, Nebenzia criticized European nations for refusing to recognize new power centers. He highlighted the evolving dynamics in world politics reflected in the Security Council reform process.
The Russian envoy announced three upcoming events during Russia’s term presidency, including discussions on international peace and security, cooperation between the UN and regional organizations, and the situation in the Middle East.
