Iran’s recent presidential election resulted in a runoff between top candidates Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili, with no clear winner emerging. An Iranian political expert and former diplomat, Mohsen Pakaeen, shared his insights on the upcoming election and highlighted four key foreign and economic policies for the future Iranian government to consider.

Pakaeen emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with neighboring countries to boost trade, energy, and security cooperation. He also advocated for a “look east” strategy to counter the hostile behavior of Western nations and expand diplomatic and economic partnerships with Asian, African, and Latin American states.

Furthermore, Pakaeen stressed the significance of continuing Iran’s cooperation within the Resistance Front in the region and pursuing negotiations with the 4+1 countries to lift sanctions imposed on Iran. Active economic diplomacy and collaboration with private sectors were also highlighted as essential steps for the upcoming administration.
