Six young Moroccans have been released from camps in Myanmar after paying ransom amounts ranging from 80,000 DH to 100,000 centimes each. These individuals were held captive by armed gang groups along the Thailand-Myanmar border, where they endured torture and threats of death if they tried to escape or contact their families.

Appeals have been made by Moroccan families for government intervention to secure the release of their loved ones. It has been revealed that the only way to secure the release of detained Moroccans is by paying the ransom demanded by the gangs.

Currently, there are still between 150 and 200 Moroccans being detained in Myanmar, facing various forms of torture. The gangs demand large sums of money, up to 100,000 dirhams, for their release, which must be paid digitally to ensure their freedom.
