Maile angry as DA sabotages Lesufi’s diverse cabinet plans

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi faced a deadlock with the DA, leading to the postponement of his executive announcement for the second time.

Lesufi was willing to appoint the DA in three posts in his executive, but the party demanded more, causing negotiations to fail.

While the ANC in the province explored talks with the MK Party, which seconded its speaker in June, the DA instructed its leaders to boycott the announcement.

Despite the setbacks, the ANC remained firm in its commitment to engaging with other parties for a government of unity, refusing to be held at ransom by any party.

Tensions between the ANC and DA could affect the national government of unity, as the two parties navigated through strained negotiations.

Ultimately, the ANC president and DA leader reached an agreement, with the DA accepting six government posts instead of 12.

Lesufi expressed disappointment at the delays, as the ANC continued to engage with the EFF in the province for potential partnerships.
