default

The Finnish Parliament has unanimously approved the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) with the United States, allowing the U.S. access to 15 military facilities in Finland. This agreement will also permit the U.S. to station defense equipment, supplies, and soldiers in the country. Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen (NKP) stated that this agreement will significantly strengthen the relationship between Finland and the U.S., showcasing the growing cooperation between the two nations.

These developments come as Finland has begun negotiations for a defense cooperation agreement with the U.S. after expressing interest in joining NATO in May 2022. This move is seen as a strategic decision by Finland to enhance its defense capabilities and align itself more closely with Western security structures.
