Bengaluru: Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that it is natural for party leaders to seek the replacement of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar as the head of the Congress state unit. Parameshwara mentioned that such demands are common in national parties and should not be viewed negatively.
This statement from Parameshwara came after Shivakumar warned party colleagues against discussing internal matters publicly, including potential changes in leadership roles. Parameshwara emphasized the workload on Shivakumar, who holds multiple key portfolios, suggesting that some party leaders believe he may be overburdened.
Drawing on his own experience, Parameshwara recalled stepping down from the party chief position to make way for a new leader once he assumed the role of home minister. He highlighted that decisions about leadership positions ultimately rest with the party high command.
Regarding the demand for Shivakumar to replace Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Parameshwara asserted that leadership changes are determined by the party, not individual preferences. He advised against seers involving themselves in political matters, emphasizing that party decisions are made through democratic processes.
