Two men, Mr Ojerbo Solomon and Mr Ola Babatunde, have been sentenced to death by a Delta State High Court in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area after eight years of trials. Presided over by Justice M.O. Omovie, the court convicted the men of murder, armed robbery, and rape based on evidence presented by the prosecution.
On February 8, 2016, the defendants broke into a house, raped the victims, and slit their throats during an armed robbery. One victim survived, while his mother and sister died. The defendants fled to Ewohimi in Edo State on the victims’ motorcycle before being caught by the police.
Despite denying the allegations, the defendants were found guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Justice Omovie sentenced them to death by hanging for their crimes. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of justice and the consequences of heinous acts like murder, armed robbery, and rape.
