SCO Summit in Astana: Airport and Railway Operations
As the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit approaches in Astana, Kazakhstan, the airport will operate with heightened security and extended hours, according to the Ministry of Transport. Additional staff, including over 100 reserve workers and volunteers proficient in foreign languages, will be on hand to ensure smooth operations during the event.
While regular flights will continue as scheduled, the ministry also emphasized the preparedness of reserve airports in Almaty and Karaganda. Railway transportation facilities will operate normally, with 23 routes from Astana-1 station and 19 from “Nurly Zhol” station, accommodating thousands of passengers daily.
Security measures have been enhanced at railway stations to guarantee passenger safety. The SCO Summit, set for July 3–4 in Astana, will see the participation of 16 heads of state and government.
