17 suspects paraded by police for cultism and murder in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom Police Command made a major breakthrough by parading 17 individuals allegedly involved in cultism, fraud, and the murder of a police inspector. Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, disclosed this during a press briefing in Uyo, stating that the suspects were apprehended for various offenses across the state.

Some of the suspects were linked to the murder of Inspector Usang Egbe on Jan. 1, as well as the killing of Dr. Udofia Sunday-Umo in Uyo. The accused, suspected members of the Debam Cult, were found in possession of locally made guns, charms, and drugs.

In another operation, the police arrested a suspected kidnapper in Uyo, seizing weapons and ammunition. Additionally, the command thwarted a kidnapping attempt, resulting in the capture of four individuals involved in the scheme.

All suspects are awaiting trial pending the completion of investigations. The decisive actions of the Akwa Ibom Police Command demonstrate their commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of the community.
