It’s been a decade since the Yazidi people faced a brutal attack by Islamic State militants in Iraq. Survivors now fear the closure of camps where they have been living, compelling them to return to areas of past trauma. To raise awareness, Yazidi women have been performing around the UK, shedding light on their community’s struggles.
One survivor, Amira, recounting the horrors, tells of the atrocities inflicted on her community, including rape and enslavement. The closure of camps poses a threat, with concerns raised by Yazidi MP Vian Dakhil about safety in the region.
