Turkish forces successfully neutralized seven PKK/YPG terrorists in northern Iraq and Syria, according to Türkiye’s National Defense Ministry. Three terrorists were eliminated in the Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring zones in Syria, while four were taken out in the Operation Claw-Lock zone in Iraq.

The launch of Operation Claw-Lock in 2022 targeted PKK hideouts in northern Iraq, near the Turkish border. The PKK, a designated terrorist organization, often uses these regions to plan attacks on Türkiye and launch assaults in northern Syria.

Since 2016, Ankara has conducted several anti-terror operations in northern Syria to prevent the establishment of a terror corridor and ensure the safety of residents. Turkish authorities use the term “neutralize” to signify the capture, surrender, or elimination of terrorists.

The PKK has waged a terror campaign against Türkiye for nearly four decades, resulting in over 40,000 casualties, including women and children. Recognized as a terrorist group by Türkiye, the US, and the EU, the YPG serves as the PKK’s Syrian faction.
