Lebanon’s caretaker prime minister, Najib Mikati, declared his country to be in a state of war amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. During a recent visit, Mikati emphasized the importance of peace and urged Israel to cease its attacks on Lebanon and Gaza, in accordance with UN resolutions 1701 and 2735.

With the threat of an Israeli invasion looming, hospitals in northern Israel are on high alert, preparing for a potential outbreak of war. Several countries have issued warnings for their citizens to leave Lebanon, with evacuation plans being put in place by Canada and the US.

The ongoing clashes between Hezbollah and Israel, which began in October, have raised concerns about the possibility of a full-scale conflict. Mikati reassured the Lebanese people that the government and resistance are united in their efforts to protect the country.

As the situation remains tense, the international community is closely monitoring developments in the region. With fears of a broader conflict growing, the need for peace and de-escalation is more urgent than ever.\
