N Korea launches missile, S Korea confirms.

North Korea launched a short-range ballistic missile off its east coast in response to a new U.S. military drill with South Korea and Japan. The missile was launched from North Korea’s southeastern town of Jangyon, with an additional unidentified trajectory detected. South Korea’s military has increased surveillance and is sharing information with the U.S. and Japan.

The launch followed the trilateral military drills involving South Korea, the U.S., and Japan, aimed at enhancing joint ballistic-missile defense and other skills. North Korea strongly denounced the drills, calling it an Asian version of NATO and stating its intention to defend sovereignty through countermeasures.

This recent launch comes after a previous multiwarhead missile launch and provocative actions like sending balloons with trash towards South Korea. Additionally, North Korea’s alliance with Russia raises concerns about further provocations. Amidst these tensions, North Korea is holding a ruling party meeting to address economic issues and deviations hindering progress.
