KARACHI: Authorities Investigate Mysterious Deaths Linked to Heatwave and Load Shedding

Recent mysterious deaths in Karachi due to extreme heatwave and load shedding have sparked an investigation by the authorities, as reported by ARY News.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has directed the CEO of K-Electric to submit a detailed report within three days following the news of these deaths.

NEPRA is looking into the increase in death rate during the recent heatwave, particularly focusing on the factors contributing to the deaths such as extreme heat, hypothermia, and electricity load shedding.

The investigation aims to determine if there was any negligence on the part of K-Electric in these incidents, with NEPRA poised to take further action based on the findings.

While KE officials deny unannounced load shedding, authorities are conducting surveys in Sindh government hospitals to gather data on deaths related to heatwave and load shedding in Karachi.

Medical professionals emphasize the importance of post-mortem examinations to accurately determine the cause of death, with certificates issued noting cardiac failure or brought dead for victims.

Police Surgeon Karachi Dr. Samia Tariq highlights the necessity of post-mortems to ascertain the cause of death in such cases.
