In a recent interview with the Saudi “Al-Hadath” network, Khalil Elhalo, a researcher for political and strategic affairs, emphasized that a potential third Hezbollah-Israel war would be vastly different from the conflict in 2006. Elhalo highlighted Israel’s advanced weapons systems, including the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrow 3 systems, as well as four artificial intelligence systems that enhance target identification capabilities.
He noted the underground nature of Hezbollah’s facilities in Lebanon and how Israel has re-evaluated its military performance since the Second Lebanon War to avoid past mistakes. Despite both parties agreeing to Resolution 1701, implementation has been lacking, with Hezbollah recruiting fighters primarily from the southern region and establishing a network in 65 villages.
Elhalo also pointed out Hezbollah’s preparation through ammunition stockpiles and tunnels, suggesting a long-term readiness for a potential conflict. The escalation of tensions between the two sides since 2019 indicates a growing risk of conflict, with Hezbollah seeking to unite various fronts and proxies.
