Qatar and Egypt Condemn Israel’s Decision to Expand Illegal Settlements in West Bank
Qatar and Egypt have strongly condemned Israel’s decision to expand illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. Israel’s Security Cabinet approved a plan to legalize five settlement outposts, issue tenders for thousands of housing units, and impose sanctions on the Palestinian Authority.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry described the decision as a violation of international legitimacy resolutions, including Security Council Resolution 2334. Qatar emphasized the need for the international community to intervene and compel Israel to comply with international law.
Egypt denounced Israel’s exploitation of the situation in Gaza to expand settlements and alter the legal status of Palestinian territories. Egypt called for immediate action to stop Israel’s illegal practices and protect Palestinian rights.
The Israeli plan includes measures to counter Palestinian statehood recognition and restrict the movement of Palestinian officials. Settlement outposts, established without approval on Palestinian land, continue to be a major point of contention in the region.
