Yemeni riyal falls to record low against foreign currencies in Aden

Despite the efforts of the Saudi-led coalition government, the exchange rate of the Yemeni riyal in Aden and southern/eastern provinces continues to deteriorate, reaching 1,833 riyals to the US dollar and 480 riyals to the Saudi riyal.

The failure to implement effective economic solutions has raised concerns about a looming economic crisis in Yemen. Economists blame the government for printing excessive amounts of money without proper backing and implementing flawed financial policies.

In contrast, areas under the Supreme Political Council, such as Sanaa, have maintained relative stability with the riyal exchanging at 530.50 to the US dollar and 140 to the Saudi riyal.

It is evident that urgent measures need to be taken to address the currency crisis to prevent further harm to the economy and the livelihoods of Yemeni citizens.
