Foreign Ministers of Paraguay and Argentina, Ramírez and Mondino, reached a critical understanding on the Paraná-Paraguay River Waterway during a meeting in Asunción. The OAS General Assembly served as the backdrop for this significant collaboration between the two nations.

A joint communiqué highlighted a roadmap for reactivating various bilateral mechanisms, focusing on issues like river tolls, unpaid bills, bridge construction, and anti-smuggling efforts. Projects were set in motion, including bridge construction and border control improvements, to enhance cross-border connectivity and trade relations.

The ministers emphasized the strategic importance of the Paraguay-Parana Waterway and pledged to adopt measures to improve navigability under the Santa Cruz de la Sierra Agreement on River Transport. They also discussed energy matters and proposed a gas pipeline project to boost energy supply in the region.

In their commitment to combat transnational crimes, including drug trafficking and cyber threats, the diplomats reinforced the strong bilateral relations between Paraguay and Argentina.
