The Kuac Ayok community in Warrap State has petitioned the government to investigate the death penalty of Lual Ngong, who was executed by firing squad for allegedly murdering children. The community’s paramount chief, Joesph Kuol Amet, expressed concern over the lack of proper investigation and threatened to secede from Gogrial West County if justice is not served.
Amet called for the prosecution of those responsible for Ngong’s death and demanded the removal of the Gogrial West Commissioner believed to be involved in the killings. The state assembly has acknowledged the community’s petition and Amet plans to discuss the issue with Members of Parliament.
On the other hand, the Warrap Government spokesperson, William Wol, defended the law that led to Ngong’s execution, questioning the community’s objections to a law endorsed by their own Paramount Chief.
