The Jigawa Police Command has confirmed herdsmen attacks on four communities in Birninkudu, Dutse, and Kiyawa Local Government Areas of the state. Eight people were injured in the attacks and have been hospitalized at Dutse General Hospital. The herdsmen, armed with weapons, invaded Baranda village, prompting the villagers to defend themselves, resulting in injuries.

In response, the Jigawa State Police Commissioner, Ahmed T. Abdullahi, visited the affected villages to promote community engagement, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding. He emphasized the need for collaboration, tolerance, and understanding between herders and farmers to prevent further violence.

The recent hostilities highlight the ongoing tensions between farmers and herders in the state. The Commissioner’s efforts to bring about peace and dialogue are crucial for fostering a peaceful coexistence between the two groups.

Just a week prior, a ceremony celebrating the peaceful return and confidence between herdsmen and farmers was held in Kabak village, showcasing the importance of cooperation and unity in resolving conflicts. It is essential for all parties to work together and report any wrongdoing to the authorities to prevent further violence.\
