The EFF has proposed working with the ANC under certain conditions, such as not collaborating with its government of national unity partners, the DA and FF Plus. This proposal was discussed during a bilateral meeting between the EFF and ANC at the Inanda Country Club in Johannesburg regarding the constitution of South Africa’s 7th democratic administration. The main point of contention was power-sharing in the cabinet between the DA and ANC, the leading partners in the GNU.
In a letter, EFF secretary-general Marshall Dlamini emphasized the party’s interest in collaborating with the ANC based on key principles, including total liberation of the oppressed, as well as redress and equality. The EFF is open to participating in provincial and municipal governments to address service delivery issues. They are willing to take on various roles in government, with the condition that the DA and FF Plus are excluded.
Dlamini urged the ANC to consider their proposal for the broader liberation of the oppressed, cautioning against counter-revolutionary forces seeking to undermine historic gains. The EFF aims to bring meaningful change to South Africa by participating in government.
