In an almost comical twist of fate, a high-stakes cash-in-transit heist in Bloemfontein turned into a slapstick saga of slip-ups and shootouts.
On 4 September 2020, Ignatious Sibusiso Mashinini and Sello Lucky Serumula attempted a daring cash-in-transit heist by ramming into an armoured van and using explosives to access the money. In an unexpected turn of events, Mashinini managed to escape, but left behind a crucial piece of evidence – his middle finger.
The duo also stole firearms and used explosives to crack open a safe during the heist, leading to chaos and mayhem.
