US Military Readies Lebanon Evacuation

USA flag

Recent reports indicate that the US Department of Defense is strategically positioning its forces near the Israeli-Lebanese border to be ready for immediate evacuation of American citizens from Lebanon, if needed. With concerns over a possible ground operation by Israel in Lebanon in the near future, the US Navy’s USS Wasp and the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit have been deployed to the Mediterranean. The USS Oak Hill is also in the region to support any potential evacuation efforts.

Additionally, US officials are in close communication with allies to coordinate a collective evacuation plan. This development comes following Israel’s approval of an operational plan for a potential offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon, following their recent actions in Gaza.

The German Foreign Ministry has advised their citizens in Lebanon to leave due to escalating tensions between Lebanon and Israel. This comes after similar warnings from the Dutch and Austrian governments earlier this year.

Overall, the situation in the region remains tense and precautionary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of all citizens.
