The United States has extended invitations to Israel and several Arab countries to attend the NATO summit in Washington. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg invited heads of state and government of all 32 member allies, as well as leaders from partner nations in the Indo-Pacific region.
Meetings at the ministerial level with representatives from other NATO partners are also being organized by US authorities. Arab invitees include Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.
‘Different in Many Ways’
Stoltenberg emphasized the importance of upholding international law in all conflicts. He highlighted the differences between the situations in Ukraine and Gaza, stating that Ukraine never posed a threat to Russia, unlike the war in Gaza. The ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza has resulted in a devastating humanitarian crisis, with thousands of Palestinians killed and wounded.
As the host of the summit, the US aims to address the complex dynamics in the region and foster dialogue among NATO members and partners.
