Meanwhile, a fire at a possible Russian air defense position in Crimea added to the speculation, as it occurred in proximity to where an S-400 system had been previously taken out.
Russian forces had deployed the S-500 system in Crimea to counter Ukrainian attacks that had decimated S-300 and S-400 systems. The S-500, known as Prometey, boasts advanced capabilities to defend against various threats.
