Turkish forces have successfully “neutralized” two PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, as announced by the Turkish National Defense Ministry. The operation took place in the Claw-Lock region, where Turkish Armed Forces detected and eliminated the threats posed by the terrorists.

The ministry lauded the heroic efforts of the Turkish Armed Forces in their continuous fight against terrorism, emphasizing their dedication across various terrains. The term “neutralize” is used by Turkish authorities to indicate that the terrorists either surrendered, were killed, or captured.

Over the years, the PKK has waged a brutal campaign against Türkiye, resulting in the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including innocent women, children, and infants. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU.

Notably, terrorists often seek refuge in northern Iraq, near the Turkish border, to plan and carry out attacks in Türkiye. To combat this threat, Türkiye launched Operation Claw-Lock in 2022, targeting PKK hideouts in regions like Metina, Zap, and Avasin-Basyan.
