YDA Ends Protest in Punjab Hospitals Following Lahore High Court Orders
The Young Doctors Association (YDA) in Punjab has called off their strike after the Lahore High Court’s intervention. The protest began on June 15 in response to the detention of some doctors after a fire incident at a teaching hospital in Sahiwal.
Dr. Shoaib Niazi, President of YDA, announced that the strike would be suspended for a day as they prepare to present their case before the court. During the hearing, Acting Chief Justice Shujaat Ali Khan urged the doctors to return to work and ensure the public’s health and safety.
Justice Shujaat Ali emphasized the importance of doctors as assets to the country and assured them of protection. He stated that Punjab has a population of 120 million and that healthcare professionals play a vital role in the community.
This development marks a significant turning point in the ongoing dispute between the government and healthcare workers, highlighting the importance of dialogue and legal intervention in resolving conflicts.
