In a recent development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called out the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government for its failure to establish the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) despite receiving a whopping Rs590 billion in funds over the past 14 years. The PM highlighted that the KP province received an additional one percent share under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award specifically to combat terrorism.
Despite facing immense challenges, especially during the peak of terrorist activities in 2010, the KP people have bravely fought against terrorism. However, the PM expressed concerns over the delay in setting up the CTD despite the substantial funds allocated for this purpose.
Additionally, PM Shehbaz Sharif addressed the issue of appointing a Chief Secretary for the province, offering to revise the panel if necessary. He assured that there was no discrimination against the KP province in this regard.
The recent surge in terrorist activities, particularly in KP and Balochistan, has raised concerns, emphasizing the urgent need for effective measures to combat terrorism. It is imperative for the KP government to utilize the allocated funds efficiently and establish the necessary security measures to safeguard its people.\
