Maharashtra’s Mahayuti government recently presented a staggering budget of Rs 612,293 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25, surpassing the budgets of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The budget also includes provisions to empower women by making it mandatory to add mothers’ names to official documents and providing free gas cylinders under the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana.
Additionally, schemes like the Pink E-Rickshaw scheme and increased subsidies for mass marriages aim to support and uplift women in the state.
Farmers in focus
Farmers were a key focus of the budget, with initiatives like crop insurance for Re 1, implementation of e-panchanama, and various financial incentives for farmers announced to address their grievances and support their livelihoods.
Youth and employment
The budget also introduced schemes for youth employment and training programs, such as the Mukhya Mantri Yuva Karyaprashikshan Yojana, to skill and empower the younger population of the state.
MSME push
To boost the MSME sector, the budget includes plans for setting up industry parks, textile policies, and other initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and generate employment opportunities.
The budget also focuses on enhancing infrastructure with the approval of metro lines, coastal roads, and other development projects to improve transportation and tourism in the state.
