Lesufi poised to reveal Gauteng executive pending GNU approval

After weeks of intense negotiations, Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi is prepared to announce the provincial executive pending the finalisation of the government of national unity (GNU) negotiations.

Lesufi stated in an eNCA interview, “I am ready, we’ve concluded consultations and negotiations. There is some link with the national discussions in establishing a GNU and the political leadership of the ANC have requested us to wait for that because they have to conclude.”

The announcement of the executive was initially set for Sunday but was postponed due to disagreements between the ANC and the DA. Lesufi confirmed, “We’ve met all political parties. I can confirm I met the ACDP provincial leadership and they’ve agreed to participate and be part of our provincial government.”

Despite some opposition, including ActionSA initially unwilling to engage, recent developments show their willingness to offer support. Lesufi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration with all parties involved to move forward effectively.
