Japan’s space agency, JAXA, has announced the postponement of the launch of its satellite on the new H3 rocket due to expected bad weather. Originally scheduled for Sunday, the launch will now take place on Monday to avoid rain and thunder predicted over the weekend.
The satellite, ALOS-4, will be used for Earth observation, disaster response, and military monitoring with an infrared sensor developed by the Defense Ministry. This launch will mark the H3 rocket’s third mission, following a successful launch in February. The previous launch a year earlier had to be aborted.
Japan aims to enhance its space program and national security with a commercially competitive space transport capability. The H3 rocket, developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries as a successor to the H-2A, is expected to reduce launch costs and increase efficiency.
Despite the setback, Japan remains committed to advancing its space technology and ensuring a reliable aerospace industry for the future.
