Israel Authorizes New Settlement Projects in West Bank

Bethlehem /PNN /

In a decision challenging global rejection, the Israeli government declared new settlement projects last night, despite international criticism. The Israeli Security Cabinet, led by hard-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, authorized five outposts in the occupied West Bank and imposed further sanctions on the Palestinian Authority.

The five settlement outposts approved are Evyatar, Givat Assaf, Sde Efraim, Heletz, and Adorayim. Additionally, the Higher Planning Council for Judea and Samaria is expected to approve thousands of homes for Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

Furthermore, restrictions on Palestinian construction in Area B of the West Bank were announced, violating signed agreements. Smotrich stated that these decisions were made in response to the Palestinian Authority’s actions at international courts and pressure for unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state.
